Clobs6567's 42nd Reunion -5 Dec 09 Northam Hotel Penang

Clobs6567,
Everyone of us would be just pass 60 or would be 60 when we meet up this Dec 09. Happy Birthday to all of us.
Our committee had been encouraging all of you to stay connected for the following reasons.
Despite our good efforts, however, we cannot force all to stay connected.

5 Dec 09 will be our another effort to keep in touch and stay connected with you. Please do not disappoint us and yourselves by joing us for this rare occasion to meet up and reunion.
Stay connected. Having regular social contacts with friends and loved ones is key to avoiding depression, which can lead to premature death, something that's particularly prevalent in elderly widows and widowers. Some psychologists even think that one of the biggest benefits elderly folks get from exercise the strong social interactions that come from walking with a buddy or taking a group exercise class. Having a daily connection with a close friend or family member gives older folks the added benefit of having someone watch their back. "They'll tell you if they think your memory is going or if you seem more withdrawn," says Perls, "and they might push you to see a doctor before you recognize that you need to see one yourself."

The Late CLOBS & New Found Teachers

A valued information from CLOBS64/66, Ooi Chin Wah:

According to Ken Lye's relative whom I met at his funeral, he was hospitalised just before the last Chinese New Year for skin cancer. No one knew that it could deteriorate so fast that he left us about two months later.

We were told by Team Chye that our old English teacher, P.K. Nair, is now staying in Silver Jubilee Home for the Aged in Sungai Dua. We plan to visit him soon.

Mr. Lam, 蓝正隆老师taught me mathematics in Form 3. His clear and crisp pronunciation, good command of the language and the subject stood him in good stead in making mathematics so much easier for us to understand. I remember there was a problem in deductive geometry that our class Form 3D (1964) could not solve. We struggled with the question for several days without success. Finally, we copied the question on the blackboard before the maths lesson. Mr. Lam came in, saw it and conquered it after pondering for a short while. Since then, he has become our inspiration and idol.

Today, forty five years later, he is still as witty , as sharp and as humourous. During the lunch, he taught us Economics 101 with applications in the present financial crisis. Terms like leverage, foreclosure, sub-prime loans etc are explained in simple layman's terms. Morever, he elaborates on currency trading as an added bonus.

Another old boy from another year which happened to be at the same restaurant but different table thought that Mr. Lam was a student from our batch i.e. he was not our teacher but our contemporary in CLHS!
