Quoting Leow Atomic , show details 12/29/10
Dear Chung Ling Old Pals,
I had attached a few photos to show all of you how I celebrated my Christmas
in Iasi, Romania. As you can see from the photos that I dinned with a
Malaysian Indian medical student in an Italian Fish and Chip restaurant,
invited by a group of Asian medical students to have sumptuous Chinese
dinner, practise some Tae Kwon Do flying kicks with my Indian friend,
PRETEND to drink alcohol with the Indian Friend (Please note that I do NOT
drink alcohol, I am only acting for fun), and visiting the medical school at
Christmas night. I hope you enjoy the photos!
Wishing all the CLOBs (65/67) a most blessed Happy New Year 2011!
Warmest regards,
Atomic Leow

Atomic,
Thank you for the photos and sharing how you spent your X'mas. We also have a wonderful time here in Melbourne. Apart from family gatherings, I have visitors from Sydney, Malaysia and of course meetin up our local Chung Ling mates.
I miss fish and chips. Yours must be a set meal because both meals seemed to be identical. I guess medical students are normal quite set in their minds, haha..
Thank you for your phone call on X'mas day. Really appreciated that and hope you have a good one during the festive season.
Regards,
MohYeoh

Thank you Moh Yeoh for your prompt response. Yes, I miss the time I was with the CLOBs at Melbourne. You are right, we ordered the same Fish and Chips because this is their best dish on the Table. Unlike the Fish and Chips in Melbourne, the fish here is grilled. This Italian Restaurant grilled the fish to perfection, and it is simply delicious!
It is already 3.45am over here, I think I better go to bed.
Kindest regards,

http://www.kwongwah.com.my/news/2010/11/25/105.html

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there
For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair
All across the nation such a strange vibration

Dear Chung Ling Old Boys and Lady,
It had been such a joy and honour for me to be invited to attend the Reunion Dinner at the Extra Super Tanker, Damansara Kim PJ on 18th of August 2010, shortly after my arrival back from Romania where I am currently undertaking my 6th degree pursuit in Doctor of Medicine. Words cannot express my deep gratitude to our dear Co-ordinator Khoo Boo Hock 9728 for so graciously arranging for Lim Yeow Cheng A0080 to fetch me and my cousin sister madam Low from Federal Hotel on 17th August for sighting seeing, to eat Penang Fried Keow Teow at Suria, to have seafood dinner with a few CLOBs (khoo Boo Hock, Lim Yeow Cheng, Ng Choong Tat 9904, Tan Phaik Thean 9989) at Restaurant 88, and subsequently ferrying us to the Extra Super Tanker, Damansara Kim PJ on 18th August to attend the Reunion Dinner, all these in the super comfort of Lim Yeow Cheng’s luxurious Mercedes Benz. The overwhelming hospitality shown by Lim Yeow Cheng and Khoo Boo Hock are unforgettable and will always be remembered with fond memories. The climax of my two nights stay in KL of course was at the Reunion Dinner at Extra Super Tanker, in which I had the deep satisfaction and joy to see with my own eyes and to shake the hands of some 30 CLOBS, inclusive of our lovely Dr. Ooi Ee Lee, most of whom I had not seen for more than 40 years! My meetings with the CLOBs and Lady are nothing less than electrifying, and super-charged with emotions. We laughed, we joked, we spoke reminiscently of our days in Chung Ling High School, we sang Happy Birthday song and toasted to the good health of Khoo Boo Hock whose birthday falls on 20th August, we teased, we hugged, we shook each other hands again and again, and more! When it was time for me and my cousin sister to pay for our shares for the dinner, I was told by Khoo Boo Hock and Lim Yeow Cheng that we were the guest of honour of the day and so they insisted that we should not participate in the bill sharing. What can we say, but a BIG THANK YOU to the organizing committee of this Reunion Dinner and all those present in the Reunion Dinner, for making my short holiday back in Malaysia and Singapore such a memorable one! I shall cherish these fond memories and I thank the mighty God for such warm fellowship that makes my heart goes boom boom boom. May the spirit of Chung Ling continue to bond us together wherever we may reside. Should any of you decide to pay a visit to Romania, please kindly let me know by e-mail, it will be my great honour to reciprocal back the kindness our ClobsPJ/KL/Klang 67 had so graciously showered upon me and my cousin sister during the Reunion Dinner!
I have attached the photos of all those present in the Reunion Dinner for your viewing pleasure. Due to the huge file size, I have to send the photos in three separate e-mails.
Kindest regards,

Following a stellar career as one of Singapore's foremost hydroponic research scientists and tertiary educators, Dr Atomic Leow Chuan Tse has resigned as Head of the Biotechnology Specialist Unit, Temasek Applied Science School, at Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore, to pursue his life-long dream to study medicine at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom.
Among Dr Leow's many industry achievements has been the development of a revolutionary hydroponic system to produce spectacular commercial cut orchids. The 'Precise Influx Hydroponic Growth System' (PIHGS) utilizes an automated mechanism to deliver precise, pre-determined amounts of nutrient solution that effectively circumvents the root-rot problem faced by many hydroponic orchid growers. (Many of our readers will recall our feature story on this revolutionary system in our January/February 2006 issue.) The technology is now licensed to a biotechnology company and a major orchid grower in Singapore. Dr Leow is also the inventor of a revolutionary, cost-saving chilling system for temperate plant production in the tropics, featured in this issue.
Formerly educated in Australia, Dr Leow holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Honours) and Diploma in Education from La Trobe University. He is also a Doctor of Philosophy (Toxicology), the result of a La Trobe University Research Scholarship for PhD research in toxicology of drugs.
In 2006, he was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies (summa cum laude and Dean's Award).
Between 1982 and 1990, while a biology lecturer at St Andrew's Junior College in Singapore, Dr Leow pioneered the first Bodybuilding Club in Singapore, an interest that stems from his high school years when he was placed second in the Mr Chung Ling Muscle Improvement Competition in Penang, Malaysia. In 1985, he was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Asia Bodybuilding Federation, and the Certificate of Merit by the International Federation of Body-Builders (IFBB), Montreal, Canada (1986).
Returning to his academic career, in 1984 and again in 1987, Dr Leow supervised the science students to capture first prize in the Singapore National Science Fair. In 1990, he became one of the pioneer biotech lecturers that helped to start up the Biotechnology course at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore, where he lectured in plant tissue culture, animal and plant cell biology, hydroponics and biochemical laboratory techniques. Between 1992 and 1997, Dr Leow was a senior lecturer and Agrotechnology Coordinator at Singapore Polytechnic, where he lectured in Plant Cell Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology and Agrotechnology, as well as teaching inorganic chemistry to biotechnology students.
In 1995, Dr Leow authored the world's first CD-Rom on hydroponics, which won the 'Creative Ngee Ann Multimedia Award'. During this period he also mentored the gifted students in the top Secondary Schools in Singapore on 'Life Sciences' research projects. In 1996 he was invited as a Visiting Fellow to the prestigious Institute of Agribiology & Soil Fertility at the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands, where he presented a seminar paper on the 'Impact of hydroponic technology on the agrotechnology industries in Singapore' and the 'Effect of nutrient cooling on the gibberellins metabolism in Simposai'. During the 1990's, Dr Leow also served as a volunteer counselor for Singapore Prisons and Drug Rehabilitation Centres.
Between 1997 and 2006, Dr Leow has been the principal lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic and Head of the Biotechnology Specialist Unit where he secured international accreditations from numerous international universities for the 'Diploma in Biotechnology' programme at Temasek Polytechnic.
Although Dr Leow had fulfilled all the requirements to study medicine as a younger man, he was unable to do so owing to his deep commitment to raise his two daughters with care and love. His youngest daughter is now a fifth year medical student at the School of Medicine at Melbourne University. In fact, medicine seems to run in the family with a brother-in-law the Clinical Director at Frankston Hospital, Victoria, and a cousin and nephew who also have careers in medicine. Now the time has come for Leow to follow his life-long passion to study medicine.
As a strong advocate of hydroponic technologies, and a role model for his many students and colleagues, Leow's contribution to the industry has been enormous and our best wishes go with him in his new career where I am certain he will make an indelible mark. Farewell old friend. The hydroponics industry is the poorer for your departure.

Dear Chung Ling Old Boys,
I thank God I just made it on time for our dear classmate Fong Jit Cheng's funeral farewell in Melbourne on 24 July 2010. Beside my wife and myself, Loh Jin Keat, Yeoh Moh, How, ChongChai Khoo, Jimmy Loh..and a few other Chung Ling Old Boys were there. I was touched by the beautiful eulogies given by the family members and various friends on the live of Fong Jit Cheng that was lived to the fullest as one can expect to be! It was befitting that the final farewell song "My Way" sung by Frank Sinatra was played before the casket was loaded for cremation.
As we left the Le Pine Funeral parlour, the sky was drizzling, and the afternoon breeze was delightful. Loh Jin Keat and Yeoh moh How showed me the Chung ling hospitality by taking me and my wife to the Petaling Street Malaysian Hawker Food Restaurant whereby we were treated wit delicious Penang Fried Keow Teow, Malaysian Curry Noodle and Fried Hoe Fun!
On Sunday, my family (myself, my wife, my elder daughter Olivia and my younger daughter Dr. Fiona Leow) had the opportunity to meet up another Chung ling Old Boy Soo Hock Lee and his wife at the Cross Culture Church of Christ at Swanston Street Melbourne, and subsequently dinned at the Dragon Boat Dim Sum Restaurant at Little Burke Street at Melbourne.
I had enclosed two photos of my gathering with the said Chung Ling Old Boys for your viewing pleasure.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Atomic Leow 9938

Long wait over: Dr Teng (second from right) congratulating Lim and his son Sae Wang at the Gerakan headquarters in Penang Tuesday.
